Daikin Park Brisbane wins first industrial WELL Platinum

Daikin Australia has secured Platinum WELL Core Certification for Daikin Park Brisbane, making it the first industrial project in Australia to receive the top rating.

The International WELL Building Institute awarded the certification for the company's Queensland logistics, training and sales hub at Murarrie.

The 13,609 square metre facility forms part of Daikin's broader industrial network in Australia. It includes a trade centre, training academy, showroom and Queensland sales office, alongside warehousing and dispatch operations for finished goods and spare parts.

WELL Core Certification under the WELL v2 standard assesses how buildings affect the people who use them. Daikin Park Brisbane was tested across measures including air, water, light, nourishment, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community, with final verification carried out by third parties.

Industrial focus

Industrial and logistics buildings have not typically been assessed against health and wellbeing standards in the same way as offices or mixed-use developments. That makes the result notable for a site designed around distribution, training and customer-facing functions, as well as staff workplaces.

The project was designed to support logistics, sustainability, customer experience and employee wellbeing. It also serves customers in Queensland through a logistics system that manages fulfilment and dispatch operations.

Several building features contributed to the rating, including six electric vehicle charging stations, eight low-emission vehicle parking spaces, 1.3MW solar-powered hot water, 380 indoor plants and 40,000-litre rainwater harvesting tanks.

The building is also fitted with Daikin's heat recovery variable refrigerant volume air conditioning system. Alongside the WELL rating, the site holds a 6 Star Green Star Design & As Built rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.

Broader estate

Daikin Park Brisbane is one of four Daikin Park sites in Australia, which the company uses as hubs for warehousing, sales, training and customer support across different states.

The Brisbane project was developed by Goodman within its Gateway@Murarrie estate. The site supports Daikin's Queensland operations by combining distribution infrastructure with functions that bring staff, customers and trainees into the same building.

Health standards

The WELL Building Standard has gained wider use in office and commercial projects as employers and developers place more emphasis on indoor environments. Its criteria focus on measurable building conditions and occupant experience rather than energy use alone.

That distinction matters in industrial settings, where attention has often centred on throughput, storage efficiency and transport access. Applying health-led standards to warehouses and logistics centres could broaden what developers and occupiers consider essential in such assets.
